Comparing Methods of Assigning Causes of Death
National Institute of Medical Statistics, ICMR, New Delhi is undertaking a study entitled “Comparing
methods of assigning causes of death” with collaborative funding from Ministry of Health & Family
Welfare and World Health Organization with the objectives to field test the implementation of WHO
harmonised international standard verbal autopsy (VA) questionnaires in the Indian context; to
assess and compare the validity of different techniques (PCVA and CCVA) for assigning causes of
death from WHO harmonised VA questionnaires, using the medical record based diagnoses for the
select hospital deaths as reference values for validation of VA diagnoses for the same deaths from
each of the different techniques; and to conduct VA and assign COD in select rural areas with the
help of existing health infrastructure and recommend a suitable methodology for a routine national
VA programme to ascertain causes of death in India.
Applications are invited from the eligible candidates in the prescribed format for the following
indicative posts under the above mentioned research project:-

experience in the required domain/field.
Desirable Qualification Having an experience to review the case records and assigning cause of
Death.
Emoluments Rs.75,000/- p.m.

Desirable Qualification Knowledge of handling Tablet PC as computer assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) Emoluments Rs.30,000/- p.m. Job description Maintain health information system of the project; operate Tablet PC as computer assisted personal interviewing (CAPI), its bugs removal, data retrieval and management etc. Duration 6 months Age 30 years Name of the Post Project Assistant - 30 (Thirty) Essential Qualification Graduate in Statistics/Social Science/Social Work from a recognized university with Three years experience in health survey OR Master degree in Statistics/Social Science/Social Work. Desirable Qualification Experience of handling Tablet computer assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) Emoluments Rs.29,000/- p.m. Job description To collect information in the verbal autopsy questionnaire in CAPI/printed proforma by interviewing the respondents. Duration 6 months Age 30 years. Name of the Post Data Entry Operator (Grade A) - 1 (One) Essential Qualification 12th Pass from recognized board. A speed test of not less than 15000 key depressions per hour through speed test on computer. Desirable Qualification Experience of entering health data in computer Emoluments Rs.16,000/- p.m. Job description Data entry work as required in the project. Duration 9 months Age 25 years. General terms & conditions for the posts are as follows:- 1 Since the posts are purely temporary, the incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointment under ICMR or continuation of his/her services in any other project. 2. The appointment is terminable with one month notice period from either side without assigning any reason and the tenure would be reviewed periodically on the basis of performance and suitability. 3. No other allowance/facilities other than consolidated salary shall be extended during the entire period of the project. 4. Age relaxation is admissible in respect of SC/ST/OBC candidates, Retrenched Government Employees, Departmental Candidates (including project), and Ex-servicemen in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government time to time. A ge concession to the extent of service rendered in other research projects will also be admissible for experienced and skilled persons. 5. Leave shall be as per Institutional policy for project staff. 6. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC will be as per Govt. of India norms. 7. No TA/DA etc. will be given to attend the written test/interview. 8. Qualification and experience should be from a recognised university/organization/ institution. 9.
